Open for the 2026 season, operating April through September. Both reservable and first-come-first-served sites available. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance via Recreation.gov. Fire bans are common during summer months. 14-day stay limit.
About
Santiam Flats Campground is located where the North Santiam River meets Detroit Lake, offering campers easy access to both water recreation and forest exploration in the Willamette National Forest. The campground provides 32 sites spread across a mix of single and multiple-occupancy options, all equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Drinking water is available from spigots throughout the facility, and three vault toilets serve the campground. Detroit Lake provides excellent opportunities for sailing, boating, water skiing, and fishing. Catfish, rainbow trout, and kokanee salmon are commonly caught here. Paying campers may moor boats at their sites, though there is no boat launch within the campground itself. The nearby Stahlman Point Trail offers panoramic views of the lake and surrounding Cascade Range.
Directions
From Detroit, follow Highway 22 east for 2.6 miles to Blowout Road (Forest Service Road 10) on the right. Santiam Flats Campground is on the right.
