About

Hoover Campground occupies a scenic spot on the north shore of Detroit Lake within the Willamette National Forest's North Santiam Travel Corridor. The 35 campsites (25 single, 10 double) are arranged in two loops among towering Douglas fir and bigleaf maple, with sword ferns carpeting the understory. Twenty-one sites are reservable through Recreation.gov while 14 remain first-come-first-served. A separate group site accommodates up to 70 people. Water recreation is the main draw. The campground includes a boat ramp, two courtesy docks for loading and unloading, a 200-foot barrier-free fishing pier, and two lakeside viewing platforms. Detroit Lake offers excellent fishing for rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, and catfish, along with sailing, waterskiing, and kayaking. Several hiking trails are nearby, including Stahlman Point Trail with panoramic lake views. Facilities include flush toilets, potable water from faucet risers throughout the campground, and trash receptacles. The Hoover Nature Trail is a short accessible interpretive path. Firewood and ice are available for purchase on-site. The campground has 13 barrier-free sites making it one of the more accessible options in the Detroit Lake area.
