About

Hoover Campground sits among Douglas fir and maple trees with large ferns at 1,600 feet elevation on Detroit Lake in Willamette National Forest. The campground offers 35 campsites arranged in two loops, with 25 single sites and 10 double sites that accommodate trailers up to 30 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides modern amenities including flush toilets, drinking water from faucet risers, and approximately 20 extra vehicle parking spaces. The day use area features a boat launch, two courtesy docks, a separate accessible fishing pier, and two lakeside viewing platforms with about 1,000 feet of shoreline. The self-guided Hoover Nature Trail offers an accessible interpretive walk through the campground. Detroit Lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, sailing, and fishing for catfish, rainbow trout, and Kokanee salmon. Nearby trails include Stahlman Point Trail with beautiful vistas of the lake and surrounding Cascade Mountains. A separate group site adjacent to the campground accommodates up to 70 people. Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance for individual sites, with some first-come, first-served sites also available when open.
