About

Nestled in old-growth forest along the Breitenbush River, Humbug Campground offers 21 sites spread across spacious, well-vegetated terrain that provides privacy between campsites. Most sites have sweeping views of the river, whose clean waters originate from snowmelt in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness. The campground features vault toilets and potable water from spigots throughout. From May through July, the campground puts on a spectacular natural display as rhododendrons bloom in various shades of pink throughout the old-growth forest. Fishing for rainbow trout and wading in the Breitenbush River are popular activities. The Willamette National Forest offers over 1,700 miles of trails, including many low-elevation options for year-round hiking. Detroit Lake with its marina is nearby for boating and water skiing. The campground operates from April through September with a mix of reservable and first-come, first-served sites. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance via Recreation.gov. FCFS sites accept Scan and Pay, cash, or check. A 14-day stay limit applies, with check-in at 2:00 PM and check-out at 1:00 PM.
