The campground was closed for the 2025 season and is scheduled to reopen spring 2026. Operating season runs May through October. Drinking water is temporarily unavailable; campers must bring their own. Campfires are allowed but fire bans are common during summer months.

Cleator Bend Group Campground occupies a scenic bend along the Breitenbush River within Willamette National Forest. The campground features one large group site designed for gatherings of up to 45 people. Amenities include 8 campfire rings, 8 picnic tables, a vault toilet centrally located in the camping loop, and trash receptacles. Drinking water is temporarily unavailable, so campers must bring their own supply. The Breitenbush River, fed by snowmelt from the Mount Jefferson Wilderness, provides excellent opportunities for wading, swimming, and rainbow trout fishing directly from camp. The South Breitenbush Gorge Trail, located three miles away, offers hikers views of the river passing through basalt narrows and a log footbridge crossing Roaring Creek's cascading waters. Reservations are required and can be made up to 12 months in advance through Recreation.gov. Check-in is at 2:00 p.m., check-out at 1:00 p.m. The maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights per 60-day period. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Chainsaw use and horse/pack animals are prohibited.

From Highway 22 at Detroit, turn onto Breitenbush Road (Forest Service Road 46). The campground is 9.8 miles ahead on the right.
