About
Trial Lake Campground is a high-elevation destination nestled on the shores of Trial Lake at 9,500 feet in the Uinta Mountains of northern Utah. The campground lies just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway (Highway 150), which winds through some of Utah's most spectacular alpine terrain. Dense stands of Engelmann spruce and white fir shade the 60 paved campsites, and summer wildflowers carpet the surrounding meadows. Trial Lake offers excellent fishing for rainbow trout and is open to non-motorized boating, making it popular with canoeists and kayakers. The Crystal Lake and Bald Mountain trailheads are located about a mile away at Washington Lake Campground, and numerous other hiking, biking, and horseback trails crisscross the region. The High Uintas Wilderness can be accessed from several points along the byway. Summer temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 65-75°F during the day and dropping to 40-50°F at night. The campground operates seasonally due to heavy winter snowfall that closes the Mirror Lake Highway. Bear-resistant food storage is required throughout the area.
