About

Butterfly Campground is a scenic high-elevation destination located just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway (Highway 150) in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Situated at 10,300 feet on the shores of pristine Butterfly Lake, the campground lies among white fir trees that provide partial shade. Summer temperatures typically range from 65-75 degrees during the day to 40-50 degrees at night. The campground features 20 single sites, each accommodating up to 8 people with one vehicle included. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water on site—campers must bring all water needed for their stay. The facility operates as pack-in, pack-out for trash. ATVs and motorized boats are prohibited. Butterfly Lake offers excellent opportunities for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and float tubing. The surrounding area provides access to numerous hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. Several trailheads along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway lead into the High Uintas Wilderness.
