About

Moosehorn Campground is located on the shores of Moosehorn Lake at an elevation of 10,400 feet, nestled at the base of 11,943-foot Bald Mountain along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. The campground features 33 campsites set among white fir trees that provide partial shade, with colorful summer wildflowers dotting the landscape. The lake offers excellent rainbow trout fishing and is open to non-motorized watercraft only, making it ideal for canoeing and kayaking in a peaceful setting. The campground serves as a gateway to extensive recreational opportunities in the Uinta Mountains. The Fehr Lake Trail begins just outside the campground, providing access to Shepard Lake, Maba Lake, and Hoover Lake. The Bald Mountain Trail can be accessed nearby. The Mirror Lake Scenic Byway parallels the Lower Provo River and leads to numerous high alpine lakes, the High Uintas Wilderness, and countless trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Summer temperatures range from 65-75 degrees during the day, dropping to 40-50 degrees at night.

Directions

From Salt Lake City, take I-80 east for 30 miles to Exit 146 for Highway 40 toward Heber City. Go south on Highway 40 for approximately 13 miles and turn left onto UT Highway 32. Stay on UT-32 for 16 miles through Francis to Kamas. Turn right onto Highway 150 (Mirror Lake Scenic Byway) and travel 31 miles to the campground. Note: Highway 150 is closed in winter, typically late May through mid-October only.
