About
Mirror Lake Guard Station offers a distinctive opportunity to stay in a historic Forest Service cabin while supporting the ongoing preservation of these cultural resources. Located approximately 32 miles from Kamas, Utah along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, the cabin sits at the base of 11,943-foot Bald Mountain among white fir forests and alpine wildflowers.
The guard station accommodates up to 8 people and features one bedroom with queen beds, a fully equipped kitchen (guests provide linens, dishes, and utensils), running water, shower, flush toilets, propane heat and lighting, and a gathering area with sofas and chairs on the main floor. The cabin provides direct access to the Mirror Lake area, where visitors enjoy non-motorized boating, fishing for rainbow trout, and a gravel-surfaced interpretive nature trail that circles the lake.
The location serves as an excellent base for exploring the High Uintas region. Nearby trails include the Fehr Lake Trail, Bald Mountain Trail, and routes to Bonnie Lake, Scudder Lake, and Naturalist Basin along the Highline Trail. The Mirror Lake Scenic Byway provides access to numerous high alpine lakes, streams, and wilderness areas throughout the Uinta Mountains.
