Lost Creek Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. The Mirror Lake Highway and campground typically reopen in late May depending on snow conditions and close in late fall.

About

Lost Creek Campground sits at 9,900 feet elevation on the shores of Lost Lake along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in Utah's Uinta Mountains. The campground features 35 sites nestled within a dense forest of Engelmann spruce and lodgepole pine, providing ample shade and a true alpine atmosphere. Summer wildflowers dot the landscape, and the high elevation creates comfortable daytime temperatures of 65-75°F, though nights cool to 40-50°F. Lost Lake offers excellent rainbow trout fishing and is open to non-motorized watercraft only, making it perfect for canoeing and kayaking in a peaceful setting. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the numerous hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails that crisscross the region. The Crystal Lake and Bald Mountain Trails both begin nearby, offering access to the stunning High Uintas Wilderness. Mirror Lake Campground is just up the road and features weekend amphitheater programs. The Mirror Lake Scenic Byway parallels the Lower Provo River as it winds through the Uinta Mountains, providing access to countless high alpine lakes and streams, breathtaking scenic viewpoints, and various campgrounds. The area is known for its abundant recreational opportunities in a pristine mountain environment.
