Theater In The Pines is a large group campsite located along the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway in the Wasatch Mountains, adjacent to the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness Area. Situated at 7,600 feet elevation among stands of pine, fir, and aspen trees, the campground offers a stunning mountain setting with abundant wildlife and seasonal wildflowers. The site can accommodate up to 150 people, with capacity strictly enforced. Several trails begin nearby, including the 14-mile round-trip Aspen Grove Trail that climbs to the 11,700-foot summit of Mount Timpanogos. The 2-mile Stewart Falls Trail begins just above the campground's historic stone amphitheater. The 20-mile paved Alpine Loop Scenic Byway passes through alpine canyons, mountain meadows, and forests with breathtaking views of the Wasatch Range. The campground provides vault toilets, picnic tables, grills, and firewood for purchase at nearby Mt. Timpanogos Campground. Campers must check in with the host at Mt. Timpanogos Campground to gain access. Note that Highway 92 has a 30-foot vehicle length restriction. Reservations are required and must be made at least 5 days in advance through Recreation.gov.

Directions

From I-15, take exit 272 for 800 North toward Orem and proceed east on Highway 52 to the mouth of Provo Canyon. Go east on Highway 189 for 7 miles to the Sundance Resort turnoff at Highway 92. Take Highway 92 for 6 miles past Sundance Resort and Aspen Grove Recreation Area. The campground will be on your left.
