About
Mount Timpanogos Campground is a small, forested campground situated at 7,600 feet elevation along the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway in the Wasatch Mountains. The campground lies directly adjacent to the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness Area, with the popular Aspen Grove Trail to the 11,752-foot summit of Mount Timpanogos starting across the road. The 14-mile roundtrip hike is one of the most popular alpine climbs in Utah. The campground contains 27 sites surrounded by dense aspen, maple, and fir trees, providing excellent shade throughout the day. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring on paved spurs. Flush toilets are available during the open season. There is no potable water on-site, so campers must bring all water needed. This is bear country, and proper food storage is required. The campground's location provides access to numerous attractions including Stewart Falls, Cascade Springs, Deer Creek Reservoir, Tibble Fork Reservoir, and Timpanogos Cave National Monument. State Route 92 has a 30-foot vehicle length restriction over the Alpine Loop, and trailers/RVs over 20 feet cannot safely maneuver into the campsites.
