Mount Timpanogos Campground is located along the beautiful Alpine Loop Scenic Byway high in the Wasatch Mountains, adjacent to the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness Area. Situated at 7,600 feet elevation, the campground is surrounded by a dense, shady forest of aspen, maple, and pine trees that provides stunning views of surrounding peaks through the canopy. The area is known for abundant wildlife, summer wildflowers, and spectacular autumn foliage. The campground features 27 single campsites, each equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings. All campground roads and parking spurs are paved, and flush toilets are provided. However, no water is available at the campground, so visitors must bring all water needed for their stay. The campground enforces a 7-day stay limit and cannot accommodate RVs or trailers longer than 20 feet due to site constraints. The location offers excellent access to hiking trails, including the popular 14-mile roundtrip Aspen Grove Trail that begins across the road and climbs to the summit of Mount Timpanogos. The 20-mile Alpine Loop Scenic Byway passes through alpine canyons, mountain meadows, and forests with breathtaking views. Nearby attractions include Cascade Springs, Deer Creek Reservoir, Tibble Fork Reservoir, and Timpanogos Cave National Monument.

Directions

From I-15, take exit 272 for 800 North toward Orem and proceed east on Highway 52 to the mouth of Provo Canyon. Go east on Highway 189 for 7 miles to the Sundance Resort turnoff. Take Highway 92 for 6 miles. Campground will be on your right, past Sundance Resort and Aspen Grove Recreation Area.
