About

Mt. Timpanogos Campground is nestled in a dense forest of aspen, maple, and fir trees at 7,600 feet elevation along the scenic Alpine Loop Scenic Byway in the Wasatch Mountains. The campground offers 27 paved campsites adjacent to the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness, making it an ideal base for hikers tackling the challenging 14-mile roundtrip Aspen Grove Trail to the summit of Mount Timpanogos. The trailhead for Stewart Falls and Mount Timpanogos begins at the campground parking area. The campground features paved roads and parking spurs with picnic tables and campfire rings at each site. Flush toilets and potable water are provided during the operating season. Through the forest canopy, campers enjoy views of surrounding peaks, abundant wildlife, and spectacular wildflowers in summer and fall color displays. The campground sits along the 20-mile Alpine Loop Scenic Byway, which winds through alpine canyons, mountain meadows, and forests offering breathtaking Wasatch Range views. Due to the narrow, winding Alpine Loop road and tight campground layout, trailers and RVs longer than 20 feet cannot safely maneuver into sites. State Road 92 has a 30-foot vehicle length restriction. Nearby attractions include Cascade Springs, Deer Creek Reservoir, Tibble Fork Reservoir, and Timpanogos Cave National Monument.

Directions

From I-15, take exit 272 for 800 north toward Orem and proceed east on Highway 52 to the mouth of Provo Canyon. Go east on Highway 189 for 7 miles to the Sundance Resort turnoff. Take Highway 92 for 6 miles. Campground will be on your right, past Sundance Resort and Aspen Grove Recreation Area.
