Mt. Timpanogos Campground is nestled at 7,600 feet in a shady forest of aspen, maple, and pine trees along Utah's Alpine Loop Scenic Byway. The campground borders the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness Area and offers stunning views of the surrounding Wasatch Range peaks through the trees. Wildlife sightings and summer wildflowers are common, and fall foliage draws visitors for the spectacular autumn color show. The 27 family campsites feature picnic tables and campfire rings, with paved roads and spurs throughout. Flush restrooms are available, though water availability can vary seasonally. The campground operates as a reservable facility through Recreation.gov, with first-come-first-served sites also available. Hiking is the primary draw, with the Aspen Grove Trail to the summit of Mount Timpanogos beginning directly across the road. Nearby attractions include Stewart Falls, Cascade Springs, Timpanogos Cave National Monument, Deer Creek Reservoir, and Tibble Fork Reservoir. The 20-mile Alpine Loop Scenic Byway itself passes through alpine canyons, mountain meadows, and forests with breathtaking mountain views.

Directions

From I-15, take exit 272 for 800 North toward Orem and proceed east on Highway 52 to the mouth of Provo Canyon. Go east on Highway 189 for 7 miles to the Sundance Resort turnoff. Take Highway 92 for 6 miles; the campground is on the right past Sundance Resort and Aspen Grove Recreation Area.
