MILL CANYON DISPERSED AREA

Closed

Dispersed camping is prohibited year-round in the Pleasant Grove Ranger District by Forest Service order effective since February 28, 1996. This area does not allow camping outside developed campgrounds.

About

Mill Canyon lies within the American Fork Canyon corridor of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, managed by the Pleasant Grove Ranger District. The area is near Mill Canyon Trail #040, a 3-mile hiking trail in the vicinity of Tibble Fork Reservoir. A Forest Service order prohibits camping outside developed campgrounds year-round throughout the Pleasant Grove Ranger District. This restriction specifically applies within 200 feet on each side of SR-92 (Alpine Scenic Loop), Forest Road 085 (North Fork Road), and Forest Road 008 (Granite Flat Road). Violations carry penalties of up to $500 in fines or 6 months imprisonment. Campers seeking overnight accommodations in American Fork Canyon should consider the developed campgrounds in the area, including Little Mill Campground and Granite Flat Campground, which offer vault toilets and access to hiking and fishing. American Fork Canyon is within a Recreation Fee Area, and permits are required at developed trailheads.
