SOUTH CASCADE SPRINGS DISPERSED CAMPING AREAS

Closed

Dispersed camping access depends on road conditions and seasonal closures. The Cascade Springs Road from the Midway side (State Route 114) closes December 15th. Campers should verify current access and any fire restrictions before visiting. The Pleasant Grove Ranger District prohibits dispersed camping year-round in certain areas near developed recreation sites.

About

South Cascade Springs Dispersed Camping Areas are located in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest near the popular Cascade Springs scenic area in Wasatch County, Utah. As dispersed camping on National Forest land, this area offers a primitive camping experience for those seeking solitude away from developed campgrounds. This is undeveloped forest land with no amenities provided. There are no toilets, trash service, picnic tables, fire rings, or potable water. Campers must be entirely self-sufficient, bringing adequate drinking water and packing out all trash and waste. Human waste must be disposed of in catholes dug 6-8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from any water source. Standard USFS dispersed camping regulations apply: camping is limited to 14 consecutive days within any 30-day period, and campsites must be at least 200 feet from streams or water sources. Vehicles must remain within 150 feet of designated forest roads. Campfires may be allowed depending on current fire restrictions. The nearby Cascade Springs recreation area is day-use only and does not permit overnight camping.

Directions

From Heber City, take US-189 west toward Midway. Turn onto State Route 114 and follow signs toward Cascade Springs. The dispersed camping areas are located along forest roads south of the Cascade Springs day-use area. Access from the Alpine Loop (SR-92) may also be possible when open.
