Sulphur Campground

About

Sulphur Campground occupies a scenic riverside setting at 9,100 feet elevation along Utah's Mirror Lake Scenic Byway (Highway 150) in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The campground sits where the Stillwater Fork meets the Hayden Fork of the Bear River, providing excellent fishing opportunities directly from camp. Mixed pine and aspen forest offers partial shade, with summer wildflowers adding color to the high mountain meadows. The campground features 15 single sites, 5-6 double sites, and one group site accommodating up to 25 people. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and access to vault toilets. Potable water is available but has been unreliable in the past, so bringing your own supply is recommended. The 14-day stay limit applies, and quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 7 AM. Recreation opportunities abound, with hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and fishing being popular activities. A short trail from the campground leads to Bourbon Lake, and several trailheads along the byway provide access to the High Uintas Wilderness. The area is bear country, requiring proper food storage. ATVs are permitted on designated trails but not on the highway unless licensed.

Directions

From Evanston, Wyoming, take Utah Highway 150 (Mirror Lake Scenic Byway) south for 39 miles. Sulphur Campground is on the west side of the highway. From Kamas, Utah, take Center Street east which becomes Utah Highway 150 and travel about 40 miles. The campground is on the west side of the road.
