Hayden Fork Campground

Hayden Fork Campground is a small, peaceful Forest Service campground located just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in the Uinta Mountains. The 9 single campsites are nestled in a thin forest of pine and aspen trees along the Hayden Fork River, which provides excellent fishing opportunities. Several small beaver ponds around the campground add to the wildlife viewing potential. Summer wildflowers and grasses dot the landscape, though shade is limited. The campground serves as a base for exploring the High Uinta Wilderness, with trailhead access nearby for hiking and backpacking. ATV trail riding is available in the area, though ATVs are not permitted on the highway unless licensed. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, and vault toilets are provided. Water is available by pump only, and RVs must arrive with filled tanks as hooking to the pumps is prohibited. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day stay limit. Quiet hours are observed from 10 PM to 7 AM. This is bear country, so strict food storage requirements apply with fines up to $5,000 for violations. Pets are allowed with a maximum of 2 dogs per site, kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet.

Directions

From Evanston, WY, take WY-150 S for 22.5 miles. Continue onto UT-150 for 12.3 miles. Turn left onto Forest Rd 116. Bear right to stay on Forest Rd 116 and proceed 144 feet to the campground.
