Christmas Meadows Campground
Closed for the season. The campground typically opens in mid-June and closes in mid-September, weather dependent. At 8,800 feet elevation, snow often delays opening. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov with a minimum 5-day advance booking required.
About
Christmas Meadows Campground is located at the end of a 4-mile unpaved road off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, 36 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming. Situated at 8,800 feet elevation on a knoll overlooking Christmas Meadows and Stillwater Fork, the campground offers 10-11 single-family sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and gravel parking spurs accommodating vehicles up to 25 feet. The campground serves as a gateway to the High Uintas Wilderness. The Christmas Meadows Trail begins just outside the campground, providing access for hikers and horseback riders. Stillwater Fork offers excellent fly fishing for native cutthroat and brook trout. The surrounding lodgepole pine and aspen forest provides limited shade, with summer wildflowers adding color to the alpine landscape. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water, and trash collection. This is a primitive campground with no hookups, showers, or dump station. The access road is long, unpaved, and rocky. Bear-resistant food storage is required, and quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 7 AM.
Directions
From Evanston, Wyoming, take Highway 150 south for 32 miles. Turn east on Christmas Meadows Road and travel 4 miles on unpaved road to the campground at the end of the road.
