About

Spirit Lake Campground is a high-elevation retreat at approximately 10,170 feet on the north slope of the Uinta Mountains in Ashley National Forest. The campground sits beside Spirit Lake, surrounded by towering conifer trees, providing a rustic and tranquil camping experience. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted. Facilities include vault toilets and picnic tables at each site. Campers must bring their own water as none is available on site, and all trash must be packed out. The nearby Spirit Lake Lodge offers kayak, paddle board, pedal boat, and rowboat rentals for those wanting to explore the lake. Spirit Lake is popular for fishing, particularly for trout, as well as hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. Access is via dirt and gravel Forest Roads, and the high elevation means the season is limited to June through September when snow has melted and roads are passable.
