About
Paradise Park Campground is a rustic mountain getaway located at 9,800 feet elevation in the Ashley National Forest, approximately 40 miles northwest of Vernal, Utah. The campground features 15 campsites scattered along the shores of Paradise Park Lake, where anglers can fish for rainbow trout. The setting is surrounded by dense spruce-fir forest with Paradise Creek flowing through nearby meadows. Recreation opportunities abound in the area. The 8.5-mile Deadman Lake Trail begins at the campground and is open to hiking and horses, leading to numerous isolated alpine lakes northeast of Paradise Park. Mountain biking is available on nearby roads and trails. OHV enthusiasts will find designated routes north and east of the campground, while the area south and west offers fairly unrestricted OHV use. Forest Road 296, a jeep trail, provides access to backcountry lakes. The campground operates with minimal amenities. No drinking water is provided, so campers must bring their own. Vault toilets are available. Each campsite includes a table and fire pit. A historic 1920s-era guard station adjacent to the campground is available for rent separately. Access requires traveling on unpaved Forest Road 104, which becomes impassable during winter months due to snow.
Directions
From Vernal, travel west on Highway 121 toward Lapoint for approximately 16.5 miles. Turn right onto Deep Creek Road and continue north for nearly 15.25 miles. Turn left onto Paradise Park Road/Forest Road 104 and continue northwest for approximately 8.75 miles. The campground is located at the junction with the Paradise Guard Station. The paved road ends at the forest boundary and becomes an unsurfaced road.
