About

Uinta Canyon Campground is a rustic Forest Service facility located along the Uinta River in the South Slope Western Uinta Mountains region of Ashley National Forest. The campground features 24 sites set among young Ponderosa pines, with the river flowing just steps from campsites. At $5 per night, it offers an affordable base for exploring the surrounding wilderness. The campground serves as a popular staging area for accessing the High Uintas Wilderness, Utah's largest wilderness area. Anglers will find excellent opportunities for brown, rainbow, and cutthroat trout in the adjacent Uinta River. The primitive nature of the campground means vault toilets are available but potable water is not, requiring campers to bring their own water supply or treat water from natural sources. Sites can accommodate RVs up to 22 feet in length, though the campground is best suited for tent camping and smaller vehicles. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations available.
