About
Uinta Canyon Campground is located along the Uinta River in the Ashley National Forest, approximately 25 miles north of Roosevelt, Utah. The campground features 24 campsites nestled in a grove of young ponderosa pines with some sites directly adjacent to the river. Summer wildflowers and wildlife are abundant in this scenic mountain setting. Fishing is a primary attraction, with the Uinta River offering opportunities to catch brown, rainbow, brook, and cutthroat trout. The campground serves as a convenient base for exploring the nearby High Uintas Wilderness, with a trailhead providing access to alpine lakes and high country trails. The area is popular with anglers, hikers, and those seeking a peaceful mountain retreat. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Campers should bring their own water as potable water is not available on-site. Vault toilets are provided. The maximum RV length is 22 feet, and each site includes a picnic table and fire ring.
Directions
From Roosevelt, Utah travel north on Utah Highway 121 for 10 miles to Neola, Utah. Continue north through Neola on North Uintah Canyon Highway for 12 miles. Continue north on Forest Road 118 and travel approximately 3 miles to the campground.
