Pole Creek Lake Campground is perched atop Pole Creek Mountain at 10,000 feet elevation within Ashley National Forest, surrounded by scenic lodgepole pine and Engelmann spruce forest. The campground offers 18 sites for tent and RV camping, with a maximum RV length of 22 feet. Pole Creek Lake is just a five-minute walk from the campground, offering rainbow trout fishing and scenic mountain views. The campground provides basic amenities including restrooms, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site, but potable water is not available so campers must bring their own. The site costs $5 per night for a single unit and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Access is via Forest Road 117, a steep and winding road that climbs from Uinta Canyon. Nearby trailheads provide access for both hikers and ATV riders to explore the surrounding Uinta Mountains. The area features numerous alpine lakes including Rock Lakes and Larvae Lake, both offering brook trout fishing opportunities. The West Fork Trail begins close by, offering hiking, backpacking, and backcountry fishing access to the Cleveland and Queant Lakes area.

Directions

From Roosevelt, Utah, take Highway 121 north to Uinta Canyon for about 25 miles. From Uinta Canyon, take Forest Road 117 up Pole Creek Mountain for about 11.5 miles to the campground. Forest Road 117 is steep and winding in places.
