About
Pole Creek Lake Campground occupies a forested ridgetop position at 10,000 feet in the western High Uintas, surrounded by lodgepole pine and Engelmann spruce. The setting provides access to alpine terrain and solitude typical of this remote corner of Ashley National Forest. Pole Creek Lake lies just a short walk from camp, stocked with rainbow trout and ringed by conifers. Nearby trailheads serve both foot traffic and OHV users exploring the surrounding backcountry. Mountain biking, wildlife viewing, and day hiking round out the recreation options. The campground is primitive, with vault toilets but no potable water. Campers should bring all water and supplies, as services are distant. The access road (Forest Road 117) climbs steeply from Uinta Canyon with winding sections unsuitable for large RVs or trailers.
Directions
From Roosevelt, Utah, take Highway 121 north toward Uinta Canyon for approximately 25 miles. Turn onto Forest Road 117 and continue up Pole Creek Mountain for about 11.5 miles to the campground. Forest Road 117 is steep and winding in places.
