About

Browne Lake Group Sites occupy a scenic high-mountain setting at 8,200 feet elevation in Ashley National Forest's Flaming Gorge area. The campground borders its namesake lake in a meadow dotted with summer wildflowers, partially shaded by pines and aspens. A short trail connects the sites to the lakeshore, and the Leidy Peak Trailhead begins within the campground itself. The facility includes four reservable group sites, each accommodating up to 40 people with a maximum of 6 vehicles including 5-6 RVs or trailers. Single-family sites operate on a first-come-first-served basis. All sites have picnic tables and campfire circles. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water; campers must bring their own supply. Roads and parking spurs are dirt. Fishing at Browne Lake targets rainbow trout, brook trout, and kokanee salmon. Non-motorized boating and canoeing are popular. Nearby Sheep Creek Lake offers additional cutthroat and brook trout fishing. Numerous ATV trails, hiking routes, and scenic drives crisscross the surrounding area, and Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area provides world-class reservoir recreation within easy reach.
