About
Uinta River Group Campground sits in a scenic meadow surrounded by towering Ponderosa pines in Ashley National Forest, approximately 25 miles north of Roosevelt, Utah. At 7,600 feet elevation, the campground offers a single large group site capable of accommodating up to 150 people, making it ideal for family reunions, scout troops, and other large gatherings. The site features gravel surfaces, vault toilets, trash collection, multiple picnic tables, and campfire rings with grills scattered throughout the area. The Uinta River runs adjacent to the campground, providing excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout. Summer brings abundant wildflowers and wildlife viewing opportunities. Just up the road, the Uinta River Trailhead serves as the gateway to the Chain Lakes region of the High Uintas Wilderness, where visitors can enjoy hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding. Campers should note that only non-potable water is available, so groups must bring their own drinking water supply. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov. Pets are permitted but must remain leashed at all times within the campground. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
