About

Hoop Lake Trailhead Campground is a remote, high-elevation campground at 9,000 feet tucked into the northeast corner of Utah, situated between Flaming Gorge and Evanston, Wyoming. The campground provides direct access to Hoop Lake for fishing and non-motorized boating, as well as trailhead access to the High Uintas Wilderness for backcountry hiking and horseback riding. The timbered campground offers 7 single sites and group camping options, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. A vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water on site, so campers must bring all the water they need. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no trash service. The area is bear country, and proper food storage is mandatory with violations carrying fines up to $5,000. Nearby Beaver Meadow Reservoir provides additional fishing opportunities. Wildlife watching is excellent, with elk, deer, moose, and beaver frequenting the area. The campground operates seasonally from late May through mid-September, with reservations available through Recreation.gov.
