About
South Pyramid Horse Camp is a volunteer-maintained equestrian camp in Willamette National Forest, designed and installed with help from the Mid-Valley Oregon Equestrian Trail Group. The camp serves as a centrally located base for exploring the Old Cascade Crest and Middle Santiam Wilderness trail systems. In 2013, the old corral system was replaced with a 12-horse permanent hi-line system. The camp offers access to numerous trails including South Pyramid Creek Trail #3403, Chimney Peak Trail #3382, Gordan Peak Trail #3387, Scar Mountain Trail #3402, North Pyramid Trail #4161, Pyramids Trail #3380, and Crescent Mountain Trail #3384. A short road ride from the North Pyramid-Scar Mountain Trail via Forest Road 2266 provides access to Parish Lake, Riggs Lake, and Daly Lake trails. This is a primitive, no-fee facility with no potable water or restrooms. Visitors must bring all water and pack out all waste. Self-issue wilderness permits are required for trail access, and weed-free feed is mandatory for horses.
