About

Fernview Group Site sits at 1,360 feet elevation on a wooded bench overlooking the South Santiam River in Oregon's Willamette National Forest. Originally configured as individual campsites, the area has been converted to a group reservation site accommodating up to 75 people across 11 sites. Two sites are designated tent-only due to difficult access, while the remaining sites can handle trailers up to 22 feet. An adjacent parking area fits one large or two small RVs. The campground provides basic amenities including potable water from a hand pump near the entrance and a single accessible CXT vault toilet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit with grill, though campers should bring their own firewood as none is readily available on site. The location offers excellent access to hiking opportunities. The Rooster Rock and Trout Creek Trails begin across Highway 20, leading into the Menagerie Wilderness. Iron Mountain, known for over 300 species of wildflowers with peak bloom in early July, lies 10 miles east. The historic Santiam Wagon Road trail is a 10-minute drive and offers over 20 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian use.
