About
Sevenmile Horse Camp is a primitive equestrian facility in the Sweet Home Ranger District of Willamette National Forest, situated near the historic Santiam Wagon Road. The campground offers 4 sites, each equipped with a double horse corral, picnic table, fire ring, and parking space for two vehicles. A vault toilet is provided, but there is no drinking water; spring water is available for livestock use only. The camp serves as a trailhead for exploring the Santiam Wagon Road, offering roughly 7 miles of riding west to Mountain House and 14 miles east to Fish Lake Guard Station on Highway 126. Weed-free feed is required for all livestock to prevent the spread of invasive species. Note that the horse trough on the trail may dry out in late summer. This is a first-come, first-served campground with no advance reservations. Campers can pay on-site using Recreation.gov's Scan and Pay feature via mobile app, though cellular service is limited. Sites must be occupied by horses; this is not a general-use campground.
Directions
From Sweet Home, Oregon, travel east on Highway 20 for 32 miles to Sevenmile Road (Forest Service Road 024). The horse camp is located approximately 0.25 miles down FS Road 024.
