Closed — Open year-round on a weather-dependent basis. Currently closed due to winter conditions at 3,600 feet elevation. Access road is not maintained in winter and may be impassable due to snow. Typically accessible from late spring through fall.
Alcohol Prohibitions
This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.
Aquatic Invasive Species
This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.
Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products
This Order prohibits unloading, storing, or using any straw, hay, grain, seed, or other forage or mulch products that are not state-certified weed free on the National Forest System lands, roads or trails in any Closure Area as specific in the Order.

Portion of Forest Service Road 1003 (Tom Creek Road) closed
A portion of Forest Service Road 1003, also known as Tom Creek Road, is closed. The road closure starts at the junction of FSR 10 and FSR 1003 and includes the first 4.1 miles of FSR 1003 to the junction with the 1003-416 and 1003-409 roads.
Sno-park Permits required Nov. 1 to Apr. 30
Sno-Park Permits are required to park in designated sno-parks from November 1 through April 30. Sno-Park Permits are managed by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).

About
Big Meadows Horse Camp sits at 3,600 feet elevation in the Willamette National Forest, 23 miles south of Idanha, Oregon. This purpose-built equestrian campground features 9 sites designed specifically for campers with horses and stock animals, with vehicles and trailers up to 36 feet accommodated. Each campsite includes a 4-stall corral or highline setup, picnic table, and access to shared amenities including hitching racks, a loading ramp, and stock water trough. The campground offers 6 reservable sites and 3 first-come, first-served sites. Drinking water is available via hand pump, and two single-vault toilets serve the facility. Big Meadows Road (Forest Service Road 2267) is paved, while access roads and campground surfaces are compacted rock. Several miles of loop trails radiate from the campground into the surrounding forest, including connections to Duffy Lake Trail, Big Meadows Loop Trail, and Big Meadows Tie Trail. The location provides proximity to both the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness and Santiam Pass, making it an ideal base for extended horse camping trips in the central Oregon Cascades.
Directions
From Detroit, Oregon, travel 25.6 miles east on State Highway 22 to Big Meadows Road (Forest Service Road 2267). Continue on Big Meadows Road for 0.9 miles to Forest Service Road 2257. Proceed on FS Road 2257 for 0.5 miles to Big Meadows Horse Camp. From Sisters, Oregon, head west on State Highway 126/US Highway 20 for 31.5 miles to Big Meadows Road (FS Road 2267). Big Meadows Road is paved, but access roads are compacted rock.
