Soapstone Campground is nestled at 8,200 feet elevation on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in northeastern Utah's Uinta Mountains. The campground features 34 sites spread across two loops (A and B) within a dense forest of pine, fir, and aspen trees that provide ample shade and spectacular fall color. Thickets of willow line the Lower Provo River, which flows directly alongside the campground and offers good trout fishing. The campground serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the region. Soapstone Basin is nearby with miles of OHV trails for all skill levels. The Mirror Lake Scenic Byway leads to numerous high alpine lakes, streams, and trailheads including access points to the High Uintas Wilderness. Hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing are all popular activities. All sites include paved parking spurs, picnic tables, and fire rings. Vault toilets and trash dumpsters are provided, but there is no potable water on-site. Maximum site lengths vary from 13 to 36 feet depending on the site, and all driveways are back-in only. Directions

From Kamas, Utah, head north on Main Street toward Center Street. Turn right onto Center Street, which becomes Highway 150 (Mirror Lake Scenic Byway). Continue 15.7 miles and turn right onto Forest Road 094. Follow FR094 to the campground. Alternatively from Salt Lake City, take I-80 east to Exit 146 for Highway 40, then take Exit 4 onto Highway 248 toward Kamas. Turn left onto UT-32, then right onto Highway 150 and continue 15 miles to the campground.
