About
Mill Hollow Guard Station offers a unique opportunity to stay in a historic Forest Service cabin while supporting the ongoing maintenance and restoration of these heritage structures. The cabin sits at 8,800 feet elevation in a dense forest of fir, lodgepole pine, and aspen next to Mill Hollow Reservoir.
The facility features two bedrooms with queen beds, a full kitchen with cookware provided, a gathering area, flush toilet, shower, wood stove for heat, and propane-powered lights and appliances. Guests must bring their own linens, dishes, and glassware. No pets are allowed.
Recreation opportunities abound: canoeing and kayaking on the reservoir, fishing for rainbow and albino rainbow trout, hiking the 1-mile Lakeshore Trail or 2-mile Mill Hollow Trail. Soapstone Basin, 8 miles north, offers OHV trails and excellent birding.
Directions
From Woodland, Utah, travel 12 miles southeast on State Highway 35. Turn onto Forest Road 054 and travel 2.8 miles to the campground entrance. Check in with the camp host at Mill Hollow Campground for cabin access.
