About

Smith and Morehouse Campground is located on the western edge of the Uinta Mountains in northeastern Utah, just a short distance from Smith and Morehouse Reservoir. Situated at 7,800 feet elevation in a scenic forest of conifers and aspens, the campground offers 34 paved sites with fire rings and picnic tables. Smith and Morehouse Creek runs through the campground, and wildlife including moose and deer frequent the area. The reservoir is open to motorized boats at wake-less speed, making it excellent for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing for stocked rainbow trout. A boat ramp is located on the northwest shore. The 14.6-mile Smith Morehouse Trail begins at nearby Ledgefork Campground and leads through forests, meadows, and marshland to Erickson Basin and Island Lake, offering a less-crowded alternative to other Uinta trails. The campground is operated by Utah Recreation Company under permit from the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Summer temperatures typically range from 65-75°F during the day to 40-50°F at night. ATVs are prohibited, and a 7-day stay limit is enforced.
