Ledgefork
Open for first-come, first-served camping. Reservations via Recreation.gov begin June 5, 2026. The campground typically operates through late September with FCFS availability into October.
About
Ledgefork Campground is located just above Smith and Morehouse Reservoir on the western edge of the Uinta Mountains in northeastern Utah, about 14 miles from the town of Oakley. Situated at 7,800 feet elevation in a mixed conifer and aspen forest, the campground offers 73 sites across two loops, including 67 single sites and 6 double sites. Sites 51, 52, and 53 are designated tent-only. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water on site. The campground serves as the trailhead for the 12-mile round-trip Smith and Morehouse Trail, which passes through forests, meadows, and marshland before branching to Erickson Basin and Island Lake. Smith and Morehouse Reservoir is open to motorized boats at wake-less speeds, making it excellent for canoeing and kayaking. A boat ramp is located on the northwest shore. Anglers can fish for stocked rainbow trout and native species. Moose and deer frequent the area. The campground is operated by a concessionaire and requires advance reservations during peak season, with some sites available first-come, first-served. A 7-day stay limit applies, and ATVs are prohibited. Gates are open 7am to 10pm with quiet hours from 10pm to 6am.
Directions
