About

Ledgefork Campground is located on the western edge of the Uinta Mountains in northeastern Utah, just above Smith and Morehouse Reservoir at 7,800 feet elevation. The paved campground sits within a scenic conifer and aspen forest, with Smith and Morehouse Creek running through the area. Wildlife including moose and deer are commonly seen around the reservoir. The reservoir is open to motorized boats with wakeless speed enforcement, making it excellent for canoeing and kayaking. A boat ramp is located on the northwest shore. Anglers can fish for stocked rainbow trout and other native species. The 12-mile round-trip Smith and Morehouse Trail is popular with hikers and backpackers, beginning in the campground and leading through forests, meadows, and a marsh before spurring off to Erickson Basin and Island Lake. The campground offers 67 single sites and 6 double sites with picnic tables and fire pits. Vault toilets are provided, but no potable water is available, so campers must bring their own. The town of Oakley is 14 miles away. Summer temperatures range from 65-75 degrees during the day to 40-50 degrees at night.

Directions

From Salt Lake City, take I-80 east for 36 miles to the Kamas/Wanship exit. Travel 12 miles to the end of the pavement. Turn right and travel 4 miles to the campground entrance on FR 33, approximately 14 miles from Oakley.
