Ponderosa Group Campground

Ponderosa Group Campground sits at 7,400 feet elevation along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in Utah's Uinta Mountains. This single-site group facility accommodates up to 100 people and is ideal for large gatherings, family reunions, or organized group outings. The campground provides vault toilets, campfire circles, and both large communal tables and smaller scattered picnic tables throughout the site. The campground has no potable water, so groups must bring all water needed for their stay including drinking water. Access is via a short but steep, rough dirt road that is not advisable for larger RVs; smaller RVs and trailers are manageable. The area is bear country, and proper food and trash storage is required. Popular activities in the surrounding area include fishing, hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. The High Uintas Wilderness can be accessed from several trails along the byway.

Directions

From Salt Lake City, take I-80 east for 30 miles to Highway 40. Go south on Highway 40 for 1 mile to the Kamas exit. Go southeast on US Highway 189 for 12 miles, then turn east on Utah Highway 150 (Mirror Lake Scenic Highway) for 5.7 miles to the campground. Watch for the sign and dirt road entrance on your left.
