About
Ledgefork Guard Station offers a unique opportunity to stay in a historic Forest Service cabin while supporting the preservation of these historic structures. Situated above Smith and Morehouse Reservoir on the western edge of the Uinta Mountains, the cabin provides comfortable accommodations with modern amenities including a fully equipped kitchen, propane heat, generator-powered electricity, flush toilet, and shower.
The surrounding area offers excellent recreation opportunities. Smith and Morehouse Reservoir is open to motorized boats at wakeless speeds, making it ideal for canoeing and kayaking. Anglers can fish for stocked rainbow trout. The 12-mile round-trip Smith and Morehouse Trail begins nearby and leads through forests, meadows, and marshland with spurs to Erickson Basin and Island Lake.
Guests check in with the camp host at nearby Smith and Morehouse Campground to receive access and the lock combination. Reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance. Guests should bring their own linens, dishes, silverware, and drinking water. The cabin is surrounded by scenic conifer and aspen forest, with moose and deer frequently spotted in the area.
