About

Yukwah Campground is a family-friendly riverside campground situated along the South Santiam River in the Willamette National Forest, 21 miles east of Sweet Home, Oregon. The campground was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and retains its historic character with a welcoming day-use shelter featuring a fireplace. Sites are tucked beneath a heavily wooded canopy of Douglas fir, hemlock, and maple trees draped with lichen and moss, creating well-shaded campsites surrounded by ferns and lush greenery. Many sites stretch along the river with direct access for fishing and swimming in the South Santiam. The campground offers a mix of single and double sites accommodating trailers up to 32 feet depending on the site, with five pull-through loops and standard parking spurs on gravel surfaces with paved roads throughout. Drinking water is available from two hand pump wells, and vault toilets are conveniently located throughout. The 0.3-mile wheelchair-accessible Yukwah Nature Trail follows the river through the campground and connects to an ADA fishing platform. Nearby hiking includes the Trout Creek Trail accessing Menagerie Wilderness and Rooster Rock, as well as the historic Santiam Wagon Road. Iron Mountain, Gordon Meadows, and Echo Basin offer excellent wildflower viewing.
