About

Sawmill Hollow Campground is a small, primitive campground located in the scenic Diamond Fork area of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, approximately one mile before Springville Crossing. The campground sits at the trailhead for the 7.7-mile Mapleton Sawmill Hollow Trail, making it an ideal base camp for backpackers and day hikers exploring this moderately challenging route. The campground offers 4 official campsites with a pit toilet. Each site provides basic amenities for tent camping. The area is popular with multiple user groups including hikers, backpackers, mountain bikers, and off-road vehicle enthusiasts, particularly dirt bikers. The forest setting offers a mix of aspen and pine trees with wildflowers abundant in late spring and summer. Previously a free campground, day use and overnight fees are now required. The access road experiences seasonal closures during winter months, typically from late fall through spring depending on snow conditions. The Spanish Fork Ranger District office can be contacted at (801) 798-3571 for current conditions.
