About
Balsam Campground is located on the banks of Hobble Creek in Hobble Creek Canyon, approximately 12 miles east of Springville, Utah, at an elevation of 6,000 feet within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The campground is forested with maple, fir, and cottonwood trees that provide partial shade, beautiful fall color, and privacy between campsites. Hobble Creek runs through the campground, offering excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow and brown trout. The campground contains 24 single family sites with concrete pads under picnic tables, campfire rings with benches, and a capacity of 8 people per site. Additionally, there are 2 group sites: one accommodating up to 24 people and another larger site for up to 100 people. The larger group site is a walk-to site accessed by a steep paved trail from the parking area. Vault toilets and potable water are provided during the operating season. Recreation opportunities abound in the area. Deer Springs Trail begins at the top of the campground and extends one mile. Nearby trails including Dry Canyon, Wardsworth Trail, Left Fork Days Canyon Trail, and Kirkman Hollow Trail offer excellent hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The paved Hobble Creek Road ends 8 miles up the canyon and continues as a dirt road for scenic off-road vehicle driving. The narrow, winding road tunneled through thick trees offers numerous opportunities for short hikes and wildlife viewing.
