About
Rocky Point Campground sits on the west shore of Lake Almanor, a 28,000-acre reservoir nestled in Plumas County at the foot of the Cascade Range. Operated by Pacific Gas and Electric Corporation as part of their hydroelectric project, the campground offers 109 individual campsites spread across multiple loops, with most sites accommodating RVs, trailers, and tents. Walk-in tent-only sites are also available. The campground includes two group sites: Rocky Point North for up to 30 people and Rocky Point South for up to 114 people. Lake Almanor is a premier destination for water sports including boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and fishing. The Lake Almanor Recreation Trail offers scenic hiking along the shoreline with views of surrounding mountains. Several boat launches and rental facilities operate around the lake. The long sandy beaches make this an ideal family camping destination. Lassen Volcanic National Park lies close enough for a convenient day trip, along with access to other nearby reservoirs including Butt Valley, Mountain Meadows, and Round Valley.
