About
Almanor Group Campground is part of the larger Almanor Campground complex in Lassen National Forest, located along Highway 89 approximately 5.9 miles from the Highway 36 intersection near Chester. The campground provides direct access to the 28,000-acre Lake Almanor, offering boating, swimming, water skiing, and sailing opportunities. The group site can accommodate up to 100 people and 25 vehicles, with a pull-through gravel driveway suitable for vehicles up to 60 feet in length. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water available from a hand pump, fire rings with BBQ grills, and picnic tables. No hookups are available. An RV dump station is located across the highway for a $5 fee, and a public boat launch and beach are accessible at Almanor North Campground. The Lake Almanor Recreation Trail can be accessed from within the campground, winding approximately 11 miles along the west shore with views of the lake, Dyer Mountain, and Lassen Peak. Bears frequent the area, so proper food storage is required. Dogs are allowed but must remain on leash at all times.
