Plumas National Forest Camping Stay and Occupancy Limits

A Forest Closure Order with the limits for amount of time and number of people allowed when camping on the Plumas National Forest.

About

North Fork Campground is located two miles north of Highway 70 on Caribou Road in the Plumas National Forest's Feather River Canyon, at an elevation of 2,300 feet. The campground offers 21 single-family sites that accommodate both tent and RV camping, with each site equipped with a table, fire ring, and bear box. The facility has been recently upgraded and now includes restroom facilities with flush toilets, four showers, drinking water, and electrical hookups at selected sites. Enhanced universal accessibility is available at select sites, and an RV dump station is located on-site. The campground sits along the shore of the North Fork Feather River, which provides excellent opportunities for fishing rainbow trout, swimming, wading, and tubing. The area is also a popular destination for blackberry picking in late summer months. The surrounding Plumas National Forest features numerous streams and lakes, deep canyons, rich mountain valleys, meadows, and lofty peaks. Bears are known to frequent the area, so proper food storage in the provided bear boxes is essential. Supplies and services are available in nearby communities including Belden, Twain, and Quincy. A full-service store, gas, and phone service can be found less than 10 miles away, though cell phone service at the campground itself is unreliable. The campground operates seasonally and reservations can be made through Recreation.gov, with some sites also available on a first-come, first-served basis.
