About
Hallsted Campground sits at 2,800 feet elevation in the scenic Feather River Canyon, 17 miles west of Quincy along Highway 70. The campground was recently renovated with widened and lengthened spurs, new shower and bathroom facilities, and expanded electrical service. Twenty single-family sites are nestled beneath mature oaks and conifers, several with riverfront locations along the North Fork of the Feather River. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, bear box, and lantern holder. Flush toilets and showers are available, along with drinking water from faucets. Eight sites offer 30-amp electric hookups for RV campers. Four sites are universally accessible. A walking path meanders through the forest down to the river, where fly fishing for trout and swimming are popular activities. The Feather River National Scenic Byway passes through the area, following a steeply carved river gorge with historic railroad infrastructure and hydroelectric powerhouses. A general store in Twain is within walking distance, and Quincy provides the nearest fuel approximately 17 miles east.
Directions
