Open for the 2026 season. The campground operates from early May through early September. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov. Forest-wide camping restrictions are currently in effect.

* WHAT...Temperatures of 36 degrees or lower will result in frost formation. * WHERE...In Oregon, Clackamas County Cascade Foothills, East Central Willamette Valley, Tualatin Valley, West Central Willamette Valley, and Central Oregon Coast Range Lowlands. In Washington, North Clark County Lowlands. * WHEN...From midnight tonight to 9 AM PDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is a 20-30% chance that temperatures will fall below 32 degrees, especially for locations that do not develop fog. Frost and freeze headlines are only issued through the growing season of April 1 through October 31. Therefore, frost or freeze headlines will not be issued beginning November 1, even though similar low temperatures are possible. Frost and freeze headlines will no longer be issued this growing season for the Upper Hood River Valley, southern Willamette Valley, south Washington Cascade Foothills, and north Oregon Coast Range as these locations have already experienced a hard freeze earlier in October.

River Edge Group Campground sits on the scenic Alsea River in Oregon's Siuslaw National Forest, offering a secluded riverside setting surrounded by towering Sitka spruce, Douglas fir, and alder trees with blackberry thickets. The single group site accommodates up to 100 guests with a 20-vehicle maximum, making it ideal for family reunions, scout troops, and organized group outings. The campground features a large covered shelter with multiple picnic tables protected from the coastal weather. Campfire rings and grills are located both under the shelter and in an open area outside. Four vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, and electricity serve the site. Firewood is available for purchase on-site. The adjacent boat ramp and day-use area provide direct access to the Alsea River for canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. The river offers excellent fishing opportunities. A large open play field accommodates group sports like frisbee and soccer.
Directions
From Waldport, Oregon, drive 22 miles east on Highway 34. The campground is located beside the highway.
