About
River Edge is a group campground tucked along the scenic Alsea River, surrounded by towering Sitka spruce, Douglas fir, and alder trees. The campground is designed for larger gatherings, accommodating up to 100 guests in a single reservable group site. A large shelter covers several picnic tables and a fire ring with grills, and an additional fire ring sits outside for evening gatherings. Four vault toilets and potable water serve the site, and firewood is available for purchase. The Alsea River is the main attraction here, offering excellent fishing for Chinook and Coho salmon as well as steelhead trout. An adjacent boat ramp provides easy river access for canoes and other small watercraft. The campground's open play field makes it ideal for group sports like frisbee or soccer. Sandy beaches lie about 25 minutes west near Waldport, and the spectacular Cape Perpetua Scenic Area is another 15 minutes south along the coast. Mary's Peak, the highest point in Oregon's Coast Range and a designated Scenic Botanical Area, is also nearby.
Directions
From Waldport, head east on Highway 34 for about 26 miles and look for campground signs on the right.
