About

Perched atop Marys Peak, the highest point in Oregon's Coast Range at over 4,000 feet, this small Forest Service campground offers a distinctive high-elevation camping experience in Siuslaw National Forest. The sites are tucked among a mixed conifer forest of Douglas fir, noble fir, and western red cedar, providing shade and a sense of seclusion despite the peak's popularity. The campground operates on a primitive, pack-it-in basis with vault toilets as the only developed facility. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring for campfires when conditions permit. The nearby Marys Peak Day Use Area offers additional parking and trailhead access to summit views spanning from the Cascades to the Pacific Ocean. Dispersed camping is prohibited within the Marys Peak Scenic Botanical Special Interest Area, making this campground the only legal overnight option in the immediate vicinity. The area sees heavy use, particularly on summer weekends, so early arrival is advisable during peak season.

Directions

From Corvallis, Oregon, drive 14 miles west on Highway 34 and turn right onto Marys Peak Road. Keep right as Marys Peak Road becomes Forest Road 3010. After 8.7 miles, the campground is on the right.
