About
Alsea Group Site is a group camping area located within the Canal Creek Campground complex along the scenic Alsea River corridor in Siuslaw National Forest. The site consists of 10 individual campsites arranged around a central dining and gathering area equipped with tables and a campfire circle. Bordered by a creek and shaded by towering Douglas fir and spruce trees, the campground provides a secluded forest setting ideal for family reunions, scout troops, and other organized groups. The site accommodates up to 50 people with a maximum of 10 vehicles. RVs and trailers up to 30 feet are welcome, though the Forest Service recommends tents, pop-ups, small trailers, and small RVs for easiest access. Several individual sites require walking down paths or stairs from parking areas. The campground has vault toilets but no drinking water, so all water must be packed in. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility. Nearby activities include fishing and crawfishing in the Alsea River, hiking, berry picking, tubing, and swimming. Campers should practice bear awareness and secure all food properly. Firewood should be purchased locally rather than transported to help prevent the spread of forest diseases and invasive pests.
Directions
From Waldport, Oregon, drive 7 miles east on Highway 34. Turn right on Canal Creek Road. Drive 4 miles to the campground.
