About
Blackberry Campground occupies a heavily wooded bluff in the Siuslaw National Forest, surrounded by towering cedars and Douglas fir with wild blackberry bushes scattered across the forest floor. Some of the 32 sites overlook the Alsea River while others are situated beside a large manicured grassy field. Each site includes a paved parking spur, campfire ring, and picnic table. The Alsea River is a favorite spot for drift boating, with a boat ramp located on-site. Anglers cast from boats or shore for Coho and Chinook salmon and steelhead trout. Crawfishing along the riverbank is popular, and swimming in the river provides relief during summer. The area is also known for elk hunting, making the campground a practical base camp for hunting parties. The campground sits approximately 18 miles east of Waldport along Highway 34 and about 20 minutes from the sandy beaches of the Oregon coast. Cape Perpetua Scenic Area lies another 15 minutes south of Waldport, and Mary's Peak, the highest point in Oregon's Coast Range, offers unique botanical scenery nearby.
