About

Canal Creek Group Campground provides two distinct group camping experiences within the lush forests of Siuslaw National Forest. The campground is divided by Canal Creek, which flows gently through the site, creating natural separation between the two areas. Both sites are shaded by mature Douglas fir and spruce trees, with huckleberry bushes dotting the forest floor. Roosevelt elk and bald eagles inhabit the surrounding area. The Canal Creek site accommodates up to 100 people and 20 vehicles and features a large open field ideal for group sports like soccer and football. The site includes a picnic shelter, multiple tables, and a campfire circle. Access requires fording Canal Creek, and RVs are not recommended due to the creek crossing. The Alsea site accommodates up to 50 people and 10 vehicles and consists of 10 separate campsites arranged around a central dining area with tables and a campfire circle. This site is bordered by the creek and welcomes recreational vehicles. Both sites provide vault toilets but no drinking water or electric hookups. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility. Nearby activities include fishing for cutthroat trout, crawfishing, hiking, tubing, and swimming in Canal Creek. The campground is located about 20 minutes from Waldport's coastal beaches and within reasonable distance of Cape Perpetua Scenic Area and Mary's Peak, the highest point in Oregon's Coast Range.

Directions
