About

The Alsea River Guard Station served as an outpost for forest firefighters until 2012 and is the only Depression-era guard station remaining in the Siuslaw District. Through a partnership between the Siuslaw National Forest and Benton County Natural Areas and Parks, the historic structure was renovated and opened to the public as an overnight rental cabin. The cabin has been updated with modern amenities including central heating, hot and cold running water, a full-size refrigerator, microwave, and furnishings to accommodate seven guests in its two bedrooms. One and a half bathrooms provide convenience for groups. Its location across from a county park with a boat ramp provides direct access to the Alsea River, making it popular for salmon fishing. Reservations are handled by Benton County Parks, with discounts available for seniors and veterans. The cabin provides a unique opportunity to stay in a piece of Forest Service history while enjoying the recreational opportunities along the Alsea River corridor.
