About

Canal Creek is a group campground in Siuslaw National Forest providing a tranquil escape into nature about 20 minutes from the Pacific coast beaches near Waldport. The facility consists of two distinct group sites divided by Canal Creek, which flows through the campground. The Canal Creek site accommodates up to 100 people and 20 vehicles, featuring a large open field perfect for group sports like soccer and football, a picnic shelter, tables, and a campfire circle. Access requires fording the gentle creek with vehicles, making it unsuitable for RVs and buses. The Alsea Group site accommodates up to 50 people and 10 vehicles, welcoming RVs. It consists of 10 separate campsites surrounding a central dining area with tables and a campfire circle. The campground is shaded by Douglas fir and spruce trees with huckleberry bushes dotting the forest floor. Roosevelt elk and bald eagles inhabit the surrounding area. Canal Creek offers fishing and crawfishing for cutthroat trout, as well as opportunities for hiking, tubing, and swimming. Sandy beaches stretch along the coast near Waldport, and Cape Perpetua Scenic Area is within easy driving distance. Mary's Peak, the highest point in Oregon's Coast Range, is also nearby.

Directions

From Waldport, Oregon, take State Route 34 east 7 miles to the campground sign at Canal Creek Road/Forest Service Road 3462. Turn right onto Canal Creek Road/FSR 3462 and drive 4 miles to another campground sign and turn left into the campground.
