Canal Creek

About

Canal Creek is a secluded group campground tucked into the coastal mountains of Siuslaw National Forest, approximately 11 miles east of Waldport, Oregon. The creek flows through the campground, dividing the two group sites and creating a peaceful setting shaded by Douglas fir and spruce trees with huckleberry bushes dotting the forest floor. The campground offers two distinct group sites. The Alsea Group Site consists of 11 individual campsites surrounding a central dining area with tables and a group fire ring, accommodating up to 50 people and 10 vehicles. RVs and small trailers are welcome at this site. The Canal Creek Group Site features a large open field with a picnic shelter, tables, and campfire circle, accommodating up to 100 people and 20 vehicles. This site requires fording the creek, so RVs are not recommended. Recreational opportunities abound with fishing and crawfishing in Canal Creek, which is home to cutthroat trout. The large open field at Canal Creek Group Site provides space for group sports. Sandy beaches near Waldport are about 20 minutes away, and the stunning Cape Perpetua Scenic Area is another 15 minutes south.

Directions

From Waldport, Oregon, take State Route 34 east 7 miles to the campground sign at Canal Creek Road/Forest Service Road 3462. Turn right onto Canal Creek Road and drive 4 miles to another campground sign, then turn left into the campground.
