About
Rising Sun Campground occupies a scenic location on the shores of St. Mary Lake, with Red Eagle Mountain providing a dramatic backdrop for morning sunrises. The campground serves as an excellent base camp for exploring the eastern portion of Glacier National Park, with easy access to day hikes east of Logan Pass and the Going-to-the-Sun Road. The campground features 84 sites split between lower and upper loops, with a mix of open sites that catch cool breezes and tree-sheltered sites offering shade and privacy. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food storage locker. Amenities include flush toilets, potable water throughout, and coin-operated showers available at the adjacent Rising Sun Motor Inn. A camp store, restaurant, and boat tour access are located at the nearby day-use area. Sites can accommodate vehicles up to 21 feet in total length (including trailer), with a maximum width of 8 feet including mirrors. Generator use is restricted to specific hours: 8-10am, 12-2pm, and 5-7pm. The campground enforces a 14-day stay limit during peak season and allows a maximum of 8 people, 2 vehicles, and 2 tents per site.
